Thứ 7, Saturday 14/1:
2:30 Meet up at VLS, leave for Sa Đéc (sharply)
6:00 Arrive in Sa Đéc - Visit Huỳnh Thủy Lê ancient house; have dinner & listen to local concert (Đờn ca tài tử) here
8:00 Walk around the town to experience the local town at night
9:00 Check – in & good night!
Chủ nhật, Sunday 15/1:
7:00 Have hủ tiếu for breakfast (very local tasty noodles)
8:00 Go to the follower village – walking from garden to garden, joining the gardening work with the local farmers
11:00 Go to the host family
- Attend the ceremony of Kitchen Gods (the actual date is 23rd Lunar December)
- Make Bánh Xèo for lunch & Make Bánh Tét – traditional sticky rice cakes of Tết
- Enjoy lunch in the garden
2:00 Head to a local orphanage to give Tết gifts to the kids
3:00 Leave for HCM (Estimated arrival time in HCMC: 6:30pm)

The trip’s significance
1. Visit Sa Đéc flower village
- Getting to know about the over-100-year florist’s career and flower supplier to Tết in the south of VN
- Getting to know how the integration of paddy and florist farming has contributed to the development of the local agricultural economy.
- Getting immersed in the exciting atmosphere of Tết preparation in the community


2. Visit Sa Đéc town
- Getting to know a place, where used to be the transit of the waterway between Phnom Penh and Saigon early 20th century


- Visiting Mr. Huỳnh Thủy Lê’s ancient house. It shows the architecture of East-West combinations. Besides the unique architecture, this ancient house was the residence of Mr Huỳnh Thủy Lê, who was the first lover of Marguerite Duras. This relationship became “Memoir” to write her famous novel L’amant (The Lover) in 1984. The film L’amant was shot in Sa Đéc, Đồng Tháp province in 1992.
3. Bringing some Tết to cheer up the local orphans with Tết gifts donated by the Fund of VND6,000,000 which VLS raised among the teachers and the students in September and October, 2011

4. Getting to know about ceremony of Kitchen Gods (23rd of Lunar December), and its hidden philosophy



5. Cooking Bánh Xèo for yourself & Making Bánh Tét – Sticky rice cakes of Tết
